This tender is from the country of Korea (South) in Asia region. The tender was published by GLOBAL FUND TO FIGHT AIDS, TUBERCULOSIS AND MALARIA (GFFATM) on 29 Sep 2023 for Request for proposals are invited for Feasibility Study for Water Supply at Motufoua School – Vaitupu, Tuvalu Tuvalu is a small sovereign country of less than 12,000 people. Consisting of 9 islands (6 atolls and 3 reef islands), Tuvalu has a total area of approximately 26 square kilometres and a coastline of 24 kilometres. The highest point is 4.6m above sea level, making it extremely vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. While water security has always been a concern for the people of Tuvalu, the impacts of climate change have threatened to diminish the very limited water sources it currently has. With no rivers or lakes, people depend on water drawn from natural aquifers and collected from rainfall. These are endangered by seawater intrusion and frequent, prolonged periods of drought caused by climate change. Motufoua Secondary School (Motufoua) is located at the southern end of Vaitupu atoll. It is the largest and the only public boarding high school in Tuvalu apart from a single private high school located in the capital island. From 2018-2022, the average number of students and staff was around 650 people. The school is fully funded by the government and has the most and majority of essential facilities designed for boarding school. Motufoua has 6 water cisterns, but they are not used due to extensive damage. An assessment made by the Public Work Department in the wake of the dry spell this year reported a large-scale deterioration on roofing, piping system and water cisterns for which a significant cost for rehabilitation would be needed. Cracks, rusty on structural elements and extensive damages were identified in and around the unused water cisterns. The condition of the cisterns is given below.
