In fact, due to the current intensive fighting, women and children constitute a large proportion of the IDP population in Yemen, especially those who live with their relatives in Sanaa city in general and in Al-Qadisia quarter, one of the quarters of Al-Sabeen District in which is particularly vulnerable when it comes to access to safe water. However, Al-Qadisia quarter, one of the quarters of Al-Sabeen District Sanaa city depends mainly on KA water wellfield as a resource to supply the public system, for which the existing pumping unit is partially damaged and in-low capacity with it comes to power. With this process, UNICEF have assessed the situation and come up with an emergency prioritized intervention of supply & installation of solar pumping unit KA water wellfields in Sanaa city, pumping a total of 324,000 liters per day, benefiting a total of quarter, which had a population of 49,824; according to the 2004 people (IDPs & HC). Such intervention is in line with UNICEF WASH AWP 2023, Output 3.2 “More children, adolescents and their families benefit from safe water supply services and improved hygiene practices” and Output Indicator 3.2.6 “Number of people provided with a climate resilient water or sanitation service”. The objective is to provide access to safe water for a total of 49,824 people (IDPs & Host Community) in Al-Qadisia quarter, one of the quarters of Al-Sabeen District Sanaa city through supply & installation of Solar System in Al-Qadisia quarter water wellfields including (Site preparation, Civic works, Electrical works, Installation of solar pumping units). With this process, the water quantity per Capita per day is to be increased to (20 liters) for the targeted beneficiaries. Following the site implementation period of 3 months site works. The main objectives are: 1. To increase the power capacity and operation for KA water wellfield in Al-Qadisia quarter, in Sanaa city to increase the amount of pumping water to meet the population increasing needs for water. 2. The water quantity per Capita per day is to be increase to (20 liters) for the targeted beneficiaries. Following the site implementation period of 3 months site works.
