These objectives will be achieved through the implementation of a series of activities articulated around the following two components: Component 1: Laying the foundations for community management of natural resources (CBNRM); Component 2: Develop sustainable livelihoods that reduce pressures on wildlife and forest in the Monkoto Corridor and Salonga National Park
While agriculture and NWFP-based activities will be supported in all communities targeted by the project, the development of micro-enterprises will promote other alternative economic activities. It is a question for the structure which will be retained, to accompany the beneficiaries in the identification of products with high added value on the basis of a market study, the drafting of business development plans and the development of the capacities of each business.
GOALS
The objective of this mission is to develop micro-enterprise development plans and their follow-up for the target communities of the Monkoto Corridor.
Specifically, the objectives of this consultation will be to:
· Identify ideas that can lead to the establishment of micro-enterprises;
· Identify beneficiaries through a participatory and transparent selection process;
· Carry out a market study which will describe the different sectors as well as their actors;
· Write microenterprise development plans and their follow-up;
· Strengthen financial and entrepreneurial management capacities;
· Supervise beneficiaries in the creation and management of micro-enterprises with the support of Rainforest Alliance and AASD.
EXPECTED RESULTS
As part of the implementation of this consultation, several results are expected:
· Identification of at least 20 ideas for the creation of micro-enterprises as well as the various beneficiaries, including women, in a participatory and transparent approach;
· A market study which will describe the different sectors as well as their actors;
· Microenterprise development plans and their monitoring;
· Capacity building in financial and entrepreneurial management;
· The establishment of at least 20 micro-enterprises;
· Monitoring and evaluation of micro-enterprises is carried out on a regular basis.
EXPECTED IMPACTS
· Sustainability of all micro-enterprises;
· Development of other alternative economic activities;
· Increase in the income of beneficiary households;
· Empowerment of women;
· Reduction of illegal fishing and hunting;
· The decrease in malnutrition.
DELIVERABLES
Six deliverables are expected from the national NGO:
· An identification report of at least 20 ideas for the creation of micro-enterprises as well as the various beneficiaries including women;
· A report of the market study carried out;
· A microenterprise development plan with a monitoring plan;
· A training report for beneficiaries in financial and entrepreneurial management;
· A support report for the beneficiaries in setting up at least 20 micro-enterprises;
· A monitoring and evaluation report of the microenterprises as well as their respective activities.
Methodology
The national NGO will propose a methodology adapted to the action. It will be based on the achievements of the project and previous consultations carried out within the framework of the project, and any other relevant document that can facilitate the realization of this consultancy.
CONSULTATION DURATION
This consultation will cover the period from June 1 to December 31, 2023.
APPLICATION PROFILE
The national NGO must meet the above criteria:
· Have at least 5 years of experience in similar fields;
· Have a team of experts specialized in project or business development, rural economics and sociology or other related field of study;
· Master the context of implementation of development programs;
· Having worked in the Salonga-Lukenie-Sankuru landscape is an asset.
