Sonke Gender Justice is a registered South African non-profit organisation founded in 2006 with the mission to strengthen the capacity of governments, civil society, and citizens to advance gender justice and women’s rights, prevent gender-based violence (GBV) and reduce the spread of HIV and the impact of AIDS, and in this way contributes to social justice and the elimination of poverty. Sonke Gender Justice operates in 4 provinces of South Africa, namely Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Western Cape, and Mpumalanga. KNH intends to support our local partner organization Sonke Gender Justice in implementing a project focusing on the promotion of Children’s Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Rights and Advocacy in communities of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and the Amathole District Municipality in the Eastern Cape Province. This project will receive funding from KNH and from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Purpose of the feasibility study The purpose of the feasibility study is to provide a sound basis for further developing the project strategies into a project proposal by identifying project prerequisites, opportunities, and risks. The specific objectives of the feasibility study are: Assessment of the socio-economic situation of a project on children’s sexual and GBV rights and advocacy in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro and the Amathole district municipality. A critical review of the theory of change and planned project strategies and an assessment regarding relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability. III. Assessment of the capacity of Sonke Gender Justice in view of the planned intervention with the suggestion – where necessary – of measures to strengthen the capacity of the organization.
