The focus of these services is on wellbeing and supporting older citizens and adults living with disability to maintain their independence and connection to the community and their families for as long as possible. These services are delivered and funded by the Australian Government through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (for older people). Services are offered at an entry level and are therefore designed to provide relatively low intensity (small amounts) of a single service or a few services to a large number of residents who need only a small amount of assistance or support to enable them to maintain their independence, continue living safely in their homes and participate in their communities. The Home Support Home Maintenance program delivers approximately1,700 hours of Home Maintenance and Modifications to approximately 300 residents a year. The Council’s Home Maintenance and Modifications services provides focus on providing episodic services (as opposed to regular) on a needs basis. The focus of the services is safety Home Maintenance Gutter Cleaning (the Council has a need for both standard and specialist Gutter cleaning services); Window Cleaning; Minor repairs (replacing light globes, smoke detector batteries, washers and Taps); Minor Carpentry repairs; Minor fence Repairs; Yard Tidies; Cut back of trees and shrubs (Low level yard tidies); and Home to kerb Services for hard rubbish collection,.
