The development of better digital practices and enhanced technology has also contributed to the increased demand for laptops across all roles within the organisation. As a result, Playford have incrementally purchased additional laptops and decommissioned much of the desktop fleet. After an intensive consultation period with management and staff it was concluded that Playford will move toward a primarily mobile fleet by replacing desktops with laptops. The decision was made by ICT to continue with a Dell fleet to ensure consistency of service and to ensure efficiency in management of the devices and vendors regarding support. The replacement devices will consist of the following approx. 240 laptops and 75 standard desktops, docking stations, associated hardware, Support services for hardware and software issues for 3 years and Warranty for 3 years. The successful Tenderer will be supplying the equipment as per the specification provided and the ongoing support services will be provided by DELL with the purchase of support packages. Delivery times or schedules will be negotiated with the successful Tenderer and equipment supply will be staged over a short period (2 months approx) as CoP ICT staff are required to do the imaging and subsequent deployment of the new equipment.
