DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE OF TWO METAL COOPERATIONS FOR THE LOCKS OF KAIN AND HERINNES (UPPER SCHEDULES)

The Service public de wallonie in Belgium from Europe region has released this tender for This contract concerns the design and supply of two cofferdams with a span of 14 meters, intended to allow the dewatering of the locks on the Upper Scheldt River, belonging to the Walloon Region (Kain and Hérinnes sites). The existing structures, built in the 1920s, are designed to accommodate a maximum of Class Va river traffic. The two locks have a similar design; therefore, the cofferdams must be compatible with both structures. For information purposes, their design is also similar to that of the Berchem, Oudenaarde, and Asper locks located in Flanders. The design water depths to be considered for the dimensioning of the metal structures are also comparable between the different sites. A cofferdam may consist of several separate elements, assembled using watertight joints. The total height of a cofferdam is set at 6 meters. The cofferdams must be dimensioned in accordance with applicable regulations, and in particular the Eurocodes. Particular attention will be paid to the number of joints in the cofferdam, as these represent potential weak points in its watertightness, as well as to the unit weight of its components, given the difficult access to sites for large-capacity lifting equipment. The contract includes, in particular: verification of all dimensions on-site necessary for the creation of workshop drawings; provision of a complete execution calculation note, including a note on handling; fabrication of the cofferdams in the workshop; transport of the cofferdams to their storage site (located in Kain, Hérinnes, or another SPW VH Tournai site to be determined); and provision of a best practices guide for the structures lifespan, including requirements for storage, joint replacement, anti-corrosion painting, and safety instructions during handling operations, as well as the "As-built" documentation.
