Following extreme and widespread flooding in the Province between 2010 and 2014, WSA been building improved tools/models for the forecasting of streamflows and reservoir operation planning. To operationalize these models, there is a need for a model control, data management platform/decision support system, like the Flood Early Warning System frameworks used in other Canadian jurisdictions and internationally. This platform would acquire all the model forcing data and provide a user interface for forecasters to use that data to create model input files, run a series of hydrologic, reservoir simulation and hydraulic models, and analyze the results. This is a multi-stage project. Phase 1 will consist of the development of a prototype application for the Souris River Basin.
