The Republic of Côte d'Ivoire has requested a loan from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to finance the Mountain District Integration Road Construction Project: Man – Kouibly (46 km) and Guiglo – Taï (86 km) and intends to use part of this funding to make payments for the acquisition of goods, works and related services and consultancy services required for this project. This project is jointly financed by the Ivorian State for an amount of 16.5 million euros and the Islamic Development Bank for an amount of 176.58 million euros, which brings the total cost of the project to 193.08 million euros.
The general objective of the project is to strengthen the national road network in order to facilitate economic trade flows in the country. This project will boost local economic potential, facilitate access to health services and strengthen the social cohesion of populations. It is therefore part of the government's policy relating to the fight against poverty.
Specifically, the project aims to achieve the following objectives:
ensure proper structuring of the national road network in order to fully support the country's economic growth;
maintain the network in good condition in order to reduce vehicle operating costs, increase user safety and facilitate the movement of people and goods;
open up regions that have significant potential in terms of agro-pastoral production, tourism or mining wealth and thus contribute to the fight against poverty.
