The WORLD BANK GROUP in Cote dIvoire (Ivory Coast) from Africa region had released this tender for Tenders are invited for Community Mapping and Nature-Based Solutions for Urban Resilience in Abidjan This Technical Assistance (TA) has two main objectives. The first objective of this technical assistance is to strengthen capacity of a cohort of government officials; students; youth and communities for the collection of geospatial data using satellite data and imagery; complemented by field collection. The collection will focus on geospatial data needed to better understand and plan disaster risk management and urban resilience in Greater Abidjan. This will include data on solid waste; green spaces and natural features; heat islands; air pollution; as well as available open spaces that could accommodate new nature-based solutions (NBS). The use of low-cost; inclusive and innovative approach; open-source software and tools adapted to the local context will be favored in all collection activities.The second objective of this proposal is to build technical knowledge and capacity to mainstream NBS into existing and future investments in Abidjan with a focus on utilizing the Drainage Masterplan; including investment prioritization and pre-feasibility studies; and to contribute to capacity building on NBS in the city of Abidjan and to the objectives of the Urban Resilience and Solid Waste Management Project (PARU); ongoing project financed by the World Bank. The expected outcomes achieved by these studies include reduction of flood risk; urban heat; and the improvement of livability in low-income vulnerable neighborhoods as well as other climate co-benefits. Other outcomes include biodiversity benefits and income generation with labor-intensive public works involving NBS during implementation and maintenance activities. Finally; the data collection activities will improve the availability of relevant data for Abidjan; as well as train and engage young people and public servants in collecting geospatial data. with tender notice no. 0002002333 published on 28 Jun 2023.
