Cilj projekta je opremanje novoizgrađenih i rekonstruiranih prostora Instituta suvremenom znanstvenom, tehničkom i pratećom opremom te nabava prijenosne opreme. Time se nastavlja proces modernizacije započet 2023. godine, s ciljem povećanja istraživačke izvrsnosti, konkurentnosti i inovacijskog kapaciteta u području šumarstva, ekologije i biotehničkih znanosti. Ukupna vrijednost projekta iznosi 4.992.696,14 EUR. Projekt uključuje opremanje specijaliziranih laboratorija, zajedničkih istraživačkih prostora i uredskih kapaciteta naprednim laboratorijskim i analitičkim instrumentima, terenskom opremom, sustavima daljinskog istraživanja, IT i serverskom infrastrukturom te specijaliziranim softverom. Ulaganje doprinosi digitalizaciji, zelenoj tranziciji i modernizaciji istraživačke infrastrukture. Provedbom projekta jačaju se institucionalni kapaciteti za provedbu vrhunskih temeljnih i primijenjenih istraživanja te se potiče suradnja s međunarodnim partnerima, gospodarstvom i javnim sektorom. Projekt doprinosi razvoju održivog i na znanju utemeljenog gospodarstva, unapređenju praćenja i upravljanja šumskim ekosustavima te odgovoru na izazove klimatskih promjena i očuvanja bioraznolikosti.
