V minulosti byl v Turnově vybudován průtah a kolem Jičína je vybudován společný obchvat silnic I/16 a I/35. Mezi Turnovem a Jičínem je trasa silnice I/35 vedena přes několik menších obcí. Úprava stávající silnice jejím zkapacitněním v současné trase není z prostorových důvodů možná. Studie stavby I/35 Turnov - Úlibice, Valbek 2023 řešila stabilizaci směrového a výškového řešení trasy mezi Ohrazenicemi u Turnova a Úlibicemi s ohledem na podmínky stanoviska EIA, aktuálně platných ZÚR Libereckého a Královéhradeckého kraje a aktuálně platných ČSN. Tato studie rozdělila celkovou trasu mezi Turnovem a Úlibicemi na čtyři částí, z nichž jednou je předmětný úsek I/35 Valdštejnsko - Čímyšl (včetně přivaděče Semily) a z toho vychází i staničení stavby. Studie byla také podkladem pro vypracování Projektu podrobného geotechnického průzkumu I/35 Valdštejnsko - Čímyšl (včetně přivaděče Semily), SONDEO s.r.o., 08/2024, jako podkladu pro zadání a realizaci podrobného geotechnického průzkumu. Úkolem tohoto průzkumu je spolu s rešerší archivních podkladů shromáždit co nejúplnější údaje o inženýrskogeologických, geotechnických, hydrologických a hydrogeologických poměrech zájmového území a detailně a komplexně zhodnotit geomechanické vlastnosti geologického podloží tak, aby charakterizovalo chování zemin v přirozeném, nebo zhutněném stavu v podzákladí objektů, v podloží násypů a v zemním tělese zářezů a násypů. Zpracovatel projektu podrobného GTP bude zároveň vykonávat dozor nad probíhajícími průzkumnými pracemi.
