NW Lednice - restoration of the Catacombs and the Moorish Waterworks

The National Heritage Institute in Czech Republic from Europe region has released this tender for The aim of the renovation of the Catacombs and the Moorish Waterworks is a monument renovation - a return to the original, historical solution. The Catacombs are currently in a state of disrepair, the building is leaking, the ventilation is not functional, the space is degraded not only from water, but is also heavily overgrown with moss and algae. As part of the construction renovations of the Catacombs, the remediation of sources of excessive humidity, the complete renovation of the terrace surface, the renovation of plaster and floors, the renovation and addition of hole fillings and repairs to drainage and ventilation galleries and channels will be carried out. Furthermore, the documentation includes minor layout changes related to the establishment of a toilet in the area under the Palm Greenhouse. There are a large number of stone, stucco and metal elements on the terrace and in the Catacombs below the terrace, which will be the subject of artisanal repairs, conservation and restoration. These include, in particular, stair steps, stone railings, cast-iron railings, a stone cornice, plinth cladding, the western portal inside the Catacombs, the fountain with Rebecca and the Lion Fountain, sculptural decoration (a statue of a wolf and a lion), lining of some door openings and drains in the floor of the Catacombs. As part of the construction work of the Moorish Waterworks, the exterior of the Moorish Waterworks will be renovated, including the external fillings of the openings, the roof and the truss, and the opening of the gallery above the Dyje River.
