The objective of the assignment is to support Component 1b, by initiating the economic analysis of the burden of animal source human diseases, with particular focus on zoonoses and foodborne diseases.The economic costs of disease at the human-animal-environment interface can be significant, despite expected data gaps in MENA region that would limit their full accounting. Diseases vary in their nature and thus may have different impacts at regional and national level; resultant costs of outbreaks can also vary by country context and other factors—including preparedness capacity in place.
