Provision of Catering Service at United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA)

The UN Secretariat in Ethiopia from African region had released this tender for The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) is an international organization with multi-ethnic, multi-lingual population that represents member nations from throughout the world. It is located along Menelik II Avenue, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It consists of nine main buildings. Apart from UNECA Secretariat building, the complex also accommodates other 30 UN Agencies, with over 3000 persons (staff members, consultants, contractors, etc) and receives a large number of visitors daily and this includes service providing personnel, vendor representatives, and former employees on a regular basis. UNECA intends to enter contract with one or more hoteliers/restaurateurs for three (3) years with an option, to extend for two (2) additional years which capable and with rich experience in food handling and preparations to ensure the needs of its staff and delegates are fulfilled at the international standards in the two buildings at Nile building for restaurant and at Zambezi building for cafeteria services. The services are required throughout the working days each week (Monday to Friday). The overall service requirement from the successful Contractor is the provision of restaurant, cafeteria and bar services. The Contractor must be a major hotelier or restaurateur of very high grading, very proficient in this line of business and able to provide catering services at international standards The Contractor shall offer convenient, healthy and attractive meals, snacks and beverages with varieties divided into food stations/corners to the UNECA and UN agency staff members as well as visitors. A fully serviced and state-of-the-art kitchen capable of producing an extensive menu of hot and cold food offerings is available with easy access to all dining areas. The cafeteria needs to offers hot drinks such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, array of fresh juices as well as hot and cold snacks, wraps and pizza. Vendors who express their interest will be invited to participate in a tender through “Request for Proposal (RFP). This tender will envisage the selection of individual/firm to undertake the above mentioned services within the described scope of work (SOW) that are detailed in the RFP. UNECA is precluded from entering into a contract with vendor that is not fully registered with United Nations Global Market lace (UNGM) and not obtained UN Global Market Place (UNGM) Vendor ID Number. Thus, only those vendors who are registered or provisionally registered or have started their registration process in UNGM will be eligible to receive the solicitation document-RFP.
