Coaching may be granted to a disabled person in accordance with Section 2 of the Disability Services Act if he or she needs it to learn the skills necessary for independent living, to learn sign language, supportive signs and alternative means of communication, or for life-changing situations. Training can be arranged for a relative of a disabled person in the use of sign language and alternative means of communication and to support the disabled person in life-changing situations when the participation of the relative in the training is necessary to achieve the goals set for the disabled persons training. Training is therefore never arranged solely for relatives, but the training of relatives supports the goals of the disabled persons own training. The aim of training in accordance with the Disability Services Act is to strengthen the disabled persons own resources and skills. In addition, the aim is to support the disabled persons family members and other relatives capabilities to support them in various life situations. The aim is to fully utilize the disabled persons own abilities and resources.
