The aim of this contract is to contribute to the project “Network of actors in favor of the protection of plovers within the PNM EPMO”, to the Action Strategy “Nesting coastal shorebirds on the upper beaches” of the Channel – North Sea coast. The results will then be able to contribute to the “Seabirds” monitoring program, “Coastal waders” component of the DCSMM and to the national Operation “We walk on eggshells”. So, the actions are as follows: • Identify on the coast of the Pas-de-Calais municipalities within the PNM EPMO (from Ambleteuse to Groffliers) the nesting pairs of 2 species of shorebirds nesting on the beaches (Greater Plover and Ring-necked Plover) and assess the level of reproduction, in order to monitor the state of these populations as well as Ring-necked Plovers in post-breeding gathering areas. Information on the Oystercatcher and the Little Plover may also be recorded if present on this coast. • Raise public awareness of the risks of disturbance and trampling of nests when nesting on beaches, and if necessary, protect nests (reactive exclosures and anti-predation cages) in busy areas. • Organize an information session on the recognition of the behavior of nesting pairs with the partners of the Network of actors in favor of the protection of plovers within the Marine Natural Park.
