4726f10303 - development of a method for identifying assessing interactions between operational and long-term safety requirements embla -basics and feasibility- Evaluating the safety of a repository includes a number of elements such as B Site characterization final storage concept safety concept and safety analyses which together form the basis for argumentation and trust for a safety statement The safety statement includes both the operational phase and the post-closure phase of a repository In the past the phases mentioned were treated more or less separately from one another The underlying approaches for the security analyzes were or are very different The separate approach has now been abandoned because the possible interactions between operational safety and long-term safety can have an influence on safety in the respective phase In addition the end of the operational phase forms the starting point for the post-closure phase There are therefore dependencies between the two phases that cannot be ignored when making a safety statement In order to consider potential interactions between repository operation and the period after repository closure a contractor should prepare a scientific study on this topic The study represents a first preparatory step towards developing the necessary fundamentals for the development of a suitable method for the systematic recording of interactions between operational and long-term safety requirements and for their assessment In addition to providing the fundamentals the investigations also include the fundamental determination of the feasibility of developing a method Overall the possibility of taking influencing factors into account the so-called FEP Features Events and Processes for both the operational phase and long-term safety should be included in the investigations Assuming a positive finding on feasibility a follow-up project will develop a method for identifying evaluating interactions between operational and long-term safety requirements
