81318558 - Multimedia communication support and web maintenance for the bilateral climate and energy partnerships The current global challenges of climate change and multiple geopolitical conflicts require decarbonization and diversification of energy supplies A key instrument for exchange on energy and climate issues with global energy players are the climate and energy partnerships KEP of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy BMWE The German Society for International Cooperation GIZ GmbH advises the BMW on political dialogue with developing and emerging countries To date the focus of the partnerships has been on sharing experiences gained from the German energy transition and providing consulting and support services in the partner or target countries The global framework conditions have changed significantly since the Russian attack on Ukraine That is why Germany s security of supply has become more important In addition more than ever partnerships are needed that have an even clearer win-win effect for both partners They can thus contribute to achieving the decarbonization goals in Germany and to increasing the competitiveness and resilience of the globally active German economy and thus to strengthening Germany as an industrial location Three central pillars characterize the cooperation with the partner countries within the framework of KEP 1 Decarbonization the KEP support the global energy transition and contribute to global decarbonization and climate protection 2 Climate and energy foreign trade the KEP improve business opportunities for companies from Germany and partner countries and promote energy-related projects 3 Energy supply security the KEP strengthen the security of supply with decarbonized energy sources in the partner countries and in Germany and promote the creation of new low-emission supply chains Based on jointly formulated interests the BMW is currently cooperating with 34 partner countries including 5 countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia 17 emerging and developing countries and 12 industrialized countries The agreements underlying the KEP essentially include cooperation in the areas of renewable energies and energy efficiency increasingly with a special focus on cooperation in the area of hydrogen as well as digitalization and protection of critical infrastructures The GIZ supports the BMW in the implementation and conceptual further development of the partnerships in 17 developing and emerging countries the KEP with Algeria Brazil Chile China India Morocco Mexico South Africa Tunisia Ukraine Uruguay and Vietnam the hydrogen partnerships with Egypt and Namibia the climate and energy dialogues with Argentina and Thailand and the project-based energy cooperation with Ethiopia For this purpose GIZ maintains on-site presences in all of the countries mentioned or is establishing them in close coordination with the BMW as well as in Eschborn Bonn and Berlin
