The tender was published by Deutsche Gesellschaft f r Internationale Zusammenarbeit GIZ GmbH on 31 Jul 2025 for 81318903-STRATEGIC SALIAZAS AND REALIZATION OF THE WORKSHOP EXPO-MIF IN CO on Good Fire Integrated Management Practices Project short description In the Amazon region there is the largest coherent tropical rainforest on earth a globally important hotspot of biological diversity The region s ecosystems make a central contribution to the protection and regulation of the global climate At the same time the region is increasingly threatened by developing degrading and changes in land use In conjunction with the effects of climate change this leads to an increased risk and more frequent appearance of appearance of forest fires in the region The cross -border dimension and the complex dynamics of the forest fires require a coordinated and integral approach for their management at regional level Against this background the Member States of the OTCA in 2021 technically agreed on the Memorando de Entendimiento de Cooperaci n y Asistencia Mutua Para El Manejo Integral del Fuego MDE-MIF This was officially adopted in October 2023 The aim of the MDE -MIF is to set up a cooperation system for integrated fire management Manejo Integado del Fuego MIF in the Amazon region which takes into account ecological social technical and environmental aspects of fire - including risk management in Amazonic areas The MDE MIF defines nine implementation strategies The following are particularly relevant for the current phase of implementation a structure and official recognition of the Amazonian network for integrated fire management Ramif consisting of the eight Member States of the OTCA b Formation of a technical working group within the Ramif with the possibility of working with other countries c Development of educational and information measures on the subject of integrated fire management and forest fire risks The first steps to implement the MDE MIF took place in December 2023 with the determination of the Ramif government and its work rules The two -year work plan was adopted in June 2024 The project Strengthening regional cooperation for the sustainable use of natural resources in the Amazon region - Coramazonia implemented by GIZ in cooperation with the OTCA is aimed at improved cooperation to protect the forests and to use the natural resources in the Member States A central component is the support of the implementation of the MDE MIF and the Ramif work plan The project pursues a holistic approach that deals with current needs and future challenges a individual skills and institutional capacities in the field of fire management are to be improved B The exchange of technical and traditional knowledge is to be strengthened and c good practices with special consideration of the participation of women and indigenous peoples The project is also co -financed by the Swiss Directorate for Development and Cooperation DEDA Cosude and works with the FAO in partnership.
