B 209 Elbe crossing near Lauenburg, Floristic and Faunistic Surveys 2027

The State Road Construction and Transport Authority of Schleswig-Holstein, Lübeck branch in Germany from Europe region has released this tender for The Schleswig-Holstein State Road Construction and Transportation Authority, Lübeck branch, and the Lower Saxony State Road Construction and Transportation Authority, Lüneburg regional office, are jointly planning, on behalf of the federal government responsible for road construction, the replacement of the B 209 Elbe crossing near Lauenburg/Hohnstorf, including the construction of the Lauenburg East bypass. This project is a sub-project of the "B 5 / B 209 Elbe Crossing near Lauenburg/Hohnstorf with Bypasses" planning project. The preferred option for the Elbe crossing has not yet been determined by the responsible authority. The two bridge options closest to the existing structure are BBW-1-0-BR ("Existing West") and BBO-1-4-BR ("Existing East"). Depending on the option chosen, the length of the route between the connection points is approximately 2.6 to 2.7 km. The "Existing West" option includes two bridges: one over the Elbe and one over the railway line east of Lauenburg station. The existing eastern route includes a long bridge over the Elbe River and parts of the adjacent Lauenburg Elbwarder peninsula, located on the landward side of the dike. Further east, both route options run together on former industrial railway lines along the Lauenburg-East industrial park and along the existing industrial park connection to the B 5 federal highway. The road is planned as a two-lane, rural federal highway with a standard cross-section of RQ 11 and an accompanying cycle path. The scope of work includes providing floristic and faunistic surveys for a 500-meter radius around the two route options of the construction project (approx. 400 hectares) as a basis for further landscape planning assessments, such as the landscape management plan, the species protection assessment, and the FFH (Habitats Directive) impact assessment at the preliminary design and permitting stages. with tender notice no. 703923-2026 published on 12 Oct 2026.
