The Federal Office for Radiation Protection in Germany from Europe region had released this tender for Creation of a pyirss software upgrade and maintenance of the new system For the mobile display of radiological measurements there is software FHI6020 which runs on a laptop in a measuring vehicle A module of the software collects measurement data from various sensors in order to then pass it on to other software modules A new development of the software is currently almost completed project end December 31 2025 This is called Sinka mobil The preferred communication with this software is via MQTT For gamma spectroscopy measurements with a sodium iodide NaI detector the program PyIRSS is executed on a MiniPC that is connected to the measuring device multichannel analyzer - MCA Osprey from Mirion via LAN The PyIRSS program reads the gamma spectra from the measuring device evaluates them and then passes the evaluated spectra on to another computer with Sinka mobil in the LAN via Telnet for graphical representation of the measured values This PyRISS program is a Python script that uses a program library provided by the manufacturer Mirion Canberra of the measuring device to read out the measurement data and evaluate them which is currently used in the 32bit version A 64-bit version of the program library exists In this process reading evaluating and forwarding via Telnet PyIRSS uses the settings for measurement data recording and evaluation that were previously configured with Genie2k Genie2k is a Windows program and cannot run under Linux As part of a research project an alternative evaluation method to the classic Genie2K evaluation routine was developed This evaluates the measured gamma spectra using statistical methods non-negative matrix factorization - NNMF This routine was integrated into the existing PyIRSS script now called PyIRSS-NNMF as a 64-bit Python script In addition a script for automatic calibration of the gamma spectrometer was implemented Kalib-NNMF The program package for training the NNMF model and for evaluating spectroscopic measurement data using NNMF was called GammaFlow https gitlab opencode de uba-ki-lab gamma_flow and https doi org 10 1016 j softx 2025 102342 published These are primarily Jupyter Notebooks with additional Python scripts This program package allows a reliable assignment of radionuclides in gamma spectra even with low statistics and low CPU load The measurement data is evaluated and transmitted by the PyIRSS-NNMF program on a MiniPC with a running time of less than one second This and the Kalib-NNMF script have a prototype character and are not yet suitable for use in a productive system Measurement optimization of the NNMF model in GammaFlow continues The PyIRSS-NNMF and Kalib-NNMF run like Genie2k under 64bit Windows 10 This operating system will no longer be supported by Microsoft in the future For easy maintenance and deployment implementation via Docker containers https www docker com is required Please see the tender documents for further details with tender notice no. 0878/25 published on 11 Oct 2025.
