Execution of processing services for 3D seismic and wide-angle seismic measurements, seismic interpretation of the results, and digitization of geophysical borehole measurements.

Tender Summary

The SWE Energie GmbH in Germany from Europe region has released this tender for SWE Energie GmbH (SWE E) is a company majority-owned by the Stadtwerke Erfurt Group. As part of the decarbonization of Erfurts central district heating system, SWE E is investigating deep geothermal potential in the Erfurt area. To this end, SWE E conducted the BMWE-funded project "SeismikEFfizienz" (Seismic Efficiency) between February and June 2026 as part of the "GeoEFfizienz, Tiefengeothermie für Erfurt" (GeoEFficience, Deep Geothermal Energy for Erfurt) project. The background to this project is that the deep subsurface in the footwall of the Thuringian Basin is largely unexplored. The exploration target is the crystalline rock, which belongs to the Central German Crystalline Zone (MDKZ). A potential deep geothermal reservoir could be found in the Erfurt Fault Zone. Therefore, a key focus of the seismic exploration was the search for deep faults using wide-angle surveying. The second focus was on the areal characterization of the transition zone and the overburden to optimize drilling planning. A 3D model was developed for this purpose. The survey area comprised a total of 259.8 km² (136 km² 3D seismic survey plus 123.8 km² wide-angle survey). 14,326 excitation points and 15,085 receiver points were established in the main survey area, along with 4,722 additional receiver points for the wide-angle survey (full deployment: 19,576 Inova Quantum geophones). The cover depth exceeded 400 m with a bin size of 15 m x 15 m. The raw data volume totals approximately 92 TB of 3D data and approximately 6 TB of wide-angle data. The subject of this tender (Lot 2) is the processing and seismic interpretation of the data, as well as the digitization of borehole measurements. The scope of services includes, in particular: • Data acquisition and project management, • Data preparation and preprocessing, • Standard processing, • Common Reflection Surface (CRS) processing, • Pre-stack time migration including velocity modeling and quality control, • Pre-stack depth migration, • Seismic interpretation of layer boundaries and faults for the creation of a 3D structural model, and • Digitization of borehole measurements. Bidders must submit a technical processing concept (max. 20 pages) that serves as the basis for the qualitative evaluation of the bid and is freely designed in its presentation. The concept must, in particular, clearly illustrate the aforementioned processing steps and the seismic interpretation of the dataset and ensure the best possible representation of steeply dipping faults and a reliable velocity model. CRS, pre-stack time migration, and pre-stack depth migration must be itemized separately in the bid, both technically and in terms of price. The results of the individual processing steps, in particular standard processing, CRS processing, pre-stack time migration and pre-stack depth migration, must each be delivered as separate, documented data sets. The specific delivery and data formats for processing and interpretation results can be found in the tender documents. The interpretation must be delivered as a 3D structural model with all layer boundaries and fault surfaces, including all underlying horizon picks and fault sticks in a comprehensible, modelable format. Services will be provided in coordination with the client; interim reports are planned. The results are due by August 31, 2027. Permitting and the measurement campaign were awarded to Geofizyka Torun as Lot 1. The 3D seismic results will inform the planning and execution of a subsequent exploratory drilling operation. For this purpose, a robust 3D structural model will be developed, which will provide information on fault zones, optimize the drilling path, and thus reduce drilling risk. with tender notice no. 694505-2026 published on 08 Oct 2026. The tender is due to expire on 13 Oct 2026. This tender is sourced from TED Europa and is eligible for suppliers interested in Seismic processing services.
