Tender Summary
The State Building Authority Munich 1 in Germany from Europe region has released this tender for Preparation of an interdisciplinary feasibility study for the comprehensive renovation of the Bavarian State Opera National Theatre. The National Theatre is the home of the Bavarian State Opera, the Bavarian State Orchestra, and the Bavarian State Ballet. The opera house, in its current neoclassical form, was first opened in 1818. Five years later, it was completely destroyed by fire and rebuilt. A second reconstruction, following its destruction in World War II, took place between 1958 and 1963, with only the outer walls remaining. Since its reopening in 1963, no comprehensive renovation has been carried out. The building complex also includes the scenery storage facility along Alfons-Goppel-Straße and the so-called "New Rehearsal Building" on Marstallplatz, completed in 2003. Other buildings used for rehearsals and performances are the Bavarian State Ballet buildings at Platzl 6 and 7, former corps buildings constructed in 1899 in the Renaissance style. With advance notice and in parallel to the feasibility study, the user will commission the development of a comprehensive needs assessment concept, including a vision for the "Opera of the Future." Simultaneously, a needs assessment for an interim solution during the National Theatre's general renovation will be prepared. The feasibility study will be continuously aligned with the user and the needs assessment in an iterative process. The contributions and results from the feasibility study will then be integrated into the needs assessment, and vice versa. The study should address the structural and technical renovation requirements, functional optimizations of operational processes, potential expansion options, the essential aspects of historic preservation, and, last but not least, the possibilities for energy optimization of the building services systems. The goals of sustainable construction must be pursued in the preparation of the feasibility study. A holistic approach should be adopted to consider the entire life cycle of the buildings, taking into account ecological, economic, and socio-cultural quality, as well as technical and procedural aspects. The subject of this contract is the preparation of a feasibility study for the aforementioned uses in three variants, as a basis for decision-making regarding the planned comprehensive renovation in the future.
