The Hannover Medical School in Germany from Europe region had released this tender for Mhh - delivery and installation of a combined small animal pet mr system and a small animal spect pet ct system for preclinical molecular imaging in the nuclear medicine clinic The Hannover Medical School MHH is purchasing a combined small animal PET MR system and SPECT PET CT system for its center for preclinical molecular imaging in the Department of Nuclear Medicine as a replacement for the existing PET CT and SPECT CT Both devices to be replaced were funded in 2011 through large research device applications The devices are currently at capacity but after 12 years they are increasingly prone to failure The PET MR applied for here will introduce the modality of small animal magnetic resonance imaging into the center This was used as a complementary endpoint in previous experiments but could only be achieved with great logistical effort by transporting animals to a standalone MR system located on the other side of the MHH campus The most commonly used modality PET will be available in both systems at the center in the future to ensure optimal resource utilization and a failure concept The two other translationally relevant modalities of SPECT and CT are covered by the second system applied for in parallel In order to ensure smooth workflows and therefore also in the interests of animal protection duration of anesthesia it is imperative that the systems offered are from the same manufacturer and are completely compatible with each other The Center for Molecular Imaging has been funded by the DFG as a Core Facility since 2021 It represents an important building block in the overall translational concept of the Department of Nuclear Medicine In addition to its own cyclotron and extensive synthesis laboratories for tracer development flourishing clinical PET and SPECT centers as well as a therapy unit are operated into which new tracers are transferred through successful preclinical experiments The Department of Nuclear Medicine uses preclinical molecular imaging in several research grants a Heisenberg Professorship for preclinical and translational cardiovascular molecular imaging and a Leducq Transatlantic Network The center also serves the entire MHH as a core area for various collaborative projects such as the Research Center for Translational Regenerative Medicine Rebirth former Cluster of Excellence the active Cluster of Excellence Hearing for all the Comprehensive Cancer Center Lower Saxony CCC-N the MHH locations of the German Centers for Health Research DZIF DZL the clinical research group 311 as well as several ongoing other SFB and Clusters of Excellence Initiatives The overarching goals of all research projects are 1 gaining mechanistic insights into disease processes and therapeutic interventions 2 the establishment of new radiopharmaceuticals 3 the support of therapeutically focused cooperation partners in drug development and 4 the establishment of imaging-guided therapeutic interventions The tender and this service description include the procurement of the aforementioned preclinical imaging systems including installation commissioning and training as well as the option to conclude a long-term maintenance agreement for preventive maintenance The delivery assembly and acceptance of the device is planned to take place in the financial year 2026 However the exact schedule depends on the accompanying structural measures with tender notice no. 2025/733/8492 published on 28 Nov 2025.
