The tender was published by Federal Agency for Nature Conservation on 08 Dec 2025 for Nature conservation classification of underwater sound effects neuse An evaluation concept should be created to evaluate existing underwater sound data from the BfN taking into account the Flora-Fauna-Habitat Directive and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive MSRL In addition to the overall exposure consideration statements about a temporal distribution as well as a quantitative assignment of anthropogenic and natural sound or individual sound events to specific sound activities should be made possible Based on the BfN s own data and using other data and literature sources assessments of the significance of different sound sources activities for different animal species occurring in the EEZ should be created considerations should be given to cumulative assessment methods and as far as possible biological limit values should be derived All results should ultimately be incorporated into an overall noise strategy in order to be able to formulate proposals for meeting the MSRL environmental goals noise reduction measures in the North and Baltic Seas as well as the derivation and application of noise limit values As a follow-up to the BfN s Nature-compatible blasting at sea NaVES-UXO project tests of various bubble curtain configurations to reduce blasting noise the effect of so-called blasting craters with regard to reducing the pressure and sound waves as well as the effect of various deterrence concepts will now be examined and recommendations for action developed The former is to be planned together in the project in cooperation with the Bundeswehr and as part of the Bundeswehr s planned explosion campaigns at sea and then examined.
