Operation of file storage backup restore data center and virtualization The German Aerospace Center DLR intends to commission an IT service provider as part of a negotiation process with a participation competition that will take over the provision of services in the areas of file storage virtualization data center and backup restore thereby ensuring the diverse requirements and the continuous development of the company-wide IT infrastructure In the area of file storage the existing storage systems must generally be operated close to the respective operating sites If local use is uneconomical the connection to the nearest or technically best-connected location must be decided by central DLR IT Systems from NetApp FAST-LTA and other manufacturers e g Synology are currently used The storage is divided into different storage and SLA classes where the hardware selection is determined by the storage class but the guaranteed uptime is determined by the associated SLA class In addition the institute s own storage systems IuE systems can be supported upon request Here the respective IT manager of the institute is the contact person for the IT service provider In the virtualization service the provider supports DLR s central virtualization platform which includes both central and decentralized as well as institute-specific services The environment consists of a central cluster in the main data center ZRZ and several decentralized sites DRZ which are operated uniformly according to a defined architectural standard All clusters hosts and resources are administered across the board using a central administration tool ensuring consistent configuration and high operational security The data center service assumes overall operational responsibility for the DLR data centers The core tasks include the coordination of all providers access management including accompanying authorized persons the organization of deliveries and the support of changes and maintenance work especially maintenance on the power supply of the data center The provider acts as an interface to the internal and external data center operators 3rd level takes over the area and cabling management except for LAN WAN and IuE hardware in the DRZs as well as maintaining and updating the documentation in the documentation tool In addition he supports disaster recovery and failover testing ensures business continuity ensures the end-to-end operability of the IT landscape and ensures service availability across all technical silos Maintaining order and security in the data center for example by controlling access and immediately reporting irregularities is also part of the scope of services The backup and restore service aims to provide a cost-efficient concept for central and decentralized systems DLR s existing backup infrastructure consists of two separate environments Veeam which primarily backs up virtual servers and IBM Storage Protect which protects physical decentralized systems and archive data The provider is responsible for regular backups according to defined RPO RTO criteria secure storage and versioning of the data and restoration at file and system level In addition monitoring reporting and complete documentation of the backup status must be guaranteed Since the service description and its appendices are confidential documents the applicant must first sign a confidentiality agreement NDA After submitting the bindingly signed confidentiality agreement the applicant receives the necessary documents Please fill out the attached Confidentiality Agreement form and submit it via the communication function of the subreport ELViS platform Once received you will also receive the complete service description via the platform
