UPGRADE OF THE ROAD BORDER STATION IN EVROS GARDENS

The Decentralized Administration of Macedonia - Thrace (D.A.M.-Th.) in Greece from Europe region has released this tender for The project concerns the repair and upgrade of the existing facilities of the Kipon Border Crossing Point of Evros. It is located in the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, on the border with Turkey, in the Regional Unit of Evros. The aim is to upgrade the infrastructure of the existing Road Land Border Crossing Point of Kipon of the Regional Unit of Evros, in accordance with the country's commitments as well as the requirements of the entities operating at the said Crossing Point. The above framework is expected to include, in particular, the architectural and energy upgrade of existing facilities and infrastructure, the traffic upgrade of the road network by relocating activities, as well as ensuring the necessary conditions for substantial improvement of the provided passport, customs, phytosanitary and veterinary control services, with the aim of highlighting and adopting corresponding best practices, taking into account the existing restrictions and commitments regarding the extent of permitted interventions at this specific point. The above upgrade will also contribute to Greece's compliance with the relevant EU Regulations governing the cross-border movement of persons and goods, such as, for example, the Regulations on the Schengen System (EU Regulation 2016/399), the Entry-Exit System (EES) (EU Regulation 2017/2226), the ETIAS System (EU Regulation 2018/1240), the European Border and Coast Guard FRONTEX (EU Regulation 2019/1896), the Union Customs Code (EU Regulation 2013/952) and the Phytosanitary-Veterinary Regulations (EU Regulations 2016/2031, EU 2017/625, EU 2019/1014), in the effective response to the content of the recommendation GR31 by Frontex for the construction of a new Road Land Border Crossing Point at Kipoi in the Evros Region, to facilitate cross-border travel and trade, to the effectiveness of cross-border controls, to reduce the waiting time of passengers and vehicles, to increase the cooperation of our country with Turkey and by extension to promote the strengthening and improvement of good neighborly relations with it. The upgrade of this specific Border Station is an immediate priority for Greece's compliance with International Law and its above-mentioned EU obligations. With the above interventions, a significant upgrade of the Border Station's infrastructure will be achieved, as the new facilities will now be consistent with the level of the rest of the national infrastructure, will support modern technological equipment, will serve the growing entry needs of third-country citizens and goods and will generally strengthen the national policy and security plan. with tender notice no. 671823-2026 published on 07 Oct 2026.
