Gujarat’s SRESTHA-G Program aims to improve quality; equity; and governance of comprehensive primary health care (CPHC); adolescent girl services and disease surveillance. An improved laboratory networking for lab-based surveillance is critical to strengthening the state’s efforts to improve the existing surveillance system and move toward Vision 2035 of Public Health Surveillance system for the state. This involves a structured assessment of the existing lab information systems at different levels of the public health system. Based on this assessment; an integrated Laboratory Management Information System (LMIS) will be developed and rolled out in a phased manner. Data gathered through this LMIS will be analyzed using advance digital tools; used for outbreak identification; and informing disease surveillance. This will also complement the federal government efforts on rolling out the Integrated Public Health Lab initiative for improved surveillance.
