Provision of an After School Child Care Centre (ASCCC) for children 5-13 years, and the provision of Nursery Services for children under 5 years

The UN Secretariat in Italy from Europe region had released this tender for The UNSGC requires the services of appropriately qualified Contractor(s) for the Provision of After School Child Care Centre (for children 5-13 years) and Nursery Services (for children under 5 years) at the UNGSC, Brindisi. The UNGSC is located inside the Italian Air Force Airport in Piazza del Vento, 1, Brindisi, Italy. Preferably, the service should be delivered inside the UNGSC base in one of the buildings that can be made available for the purpose. The initial term of the Contract is for a period of one (1) year, with the possibility of two (2) one (1) year extensions for a total duration of three (3) years. 1. AFTER SCHOOL CHILD CARE CENTRE (ASCCC) (for children 5-13 years old) After-school child care for children from 5 to 13 years old. An internal survey assessed the following characteristics of the required service: • 13 children 5-6 years old • 6 children 7-8 years old • 19 children 9-11 years old • 4 children 12-13 years old For a total 42 children. The 80% of this number would attend from 3 to 5 days per week. An additional 8 children may be interested in attending on an as-needed basis. These numbers are not guaranteed and are subject to change based on the service, start date, and other factors. 1.1 DESIDERED ACTIVITIES Ideally, services will be provided by mother-tongue English speakers. The parents surveyed are interested in activities such as: • Language learning (English/Italian) • Sports activities (outdoor spaces available) • Music, dance, drama activities • Social interaction with peers • Homework support Please indicate in your response what activities (the above and/or others) you are able to facilitate. 1.2 REQUESTED SERVICE TIME From Monday to Friday: from 13.00 to 18.00 On Italian school holidays: from 8.30 to 16.30 * *Canteen service will not be required from Monday to Friday. On Italian school holidays, the UNGSC has an internal canteen that can be used by the Contractor. Full details will be provided at the tender stage. 2. NURSERY SERVICES (for children under 5 years old) The survey also indicated the need for nursery services for around: • 14 children (below 5 years old) This group has different needs from the children attending after school (e.g., hours and activities). Please indicate in your response if this is a service you are able to provide. These numbers are not guaranteed and are subject to change based on the service, start date, and other factors. 2.1 DESIDERED ACTIVITIES Ideally, the UNGSC requires mother-tongue English speakers to provide the services. However, the teachers must have a certified degree in L2. The activities to be carried out must be appropriate for children under 5 years of age. 2.2 REQUESTED SERVICE TIME From Monday to Friday: from 7.30 to 18.00 On Italian school holidays: from 8.30 to 16.30 The UNGSC has an internal canteen that can be used by the Contractor. Qualifications: To be eligible to perform the required services, the vendors submitting the Expression of Interest (EOI) must comply with the following qualifications: 1) Be a registered company or association operating in the educational/after-school business for more than five (5) years. (In this regard, the company/association responding to this EOI shall provide proof/evidence of such qualification) 2) Comply with the current legislation in after-school activities. 3) Shall have compulsory insurance covering the risks of damage to participants and UN propriety. 4) The space utilized to carry on the required activities, available at the UNGSC base, must be furnished at the Contractor’s expense and must include all the necessary characteristics for health and safety, in compliance with the current Italian legislation. 5) Contractor’s teachers, involved in school support activities, should have a specialist degree in languages and literature or education and preferably have an L2 certification for the teaching of Italian for foreigners and / or be a professional educator, and have acquired at least three years of experience in the training sector. Tutors should also be educators with degrees in other faculties than those defined for teachers but have acquired at least two years of experience in the training sector over time. 6) Trainers and coaches involved in sporting and cultural activities shall have at least three years of experience in specific training activities and a good knowledge of the English language, self-certified and/or verified by interview.
