The NORTHERN REGION WATER BOARD in Malawi from African region had released this tender for Expression of Interest are invited for Consultancy Services for Baseline Assessment, Detailed Design, Tendering Assistance, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion and Construction Supervision for Sanitation Works . The services included under this contract are for Baseline Assessment, Detailed Design, Tendering Assistance, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion and Construction Supervision for the Sanitation Works. The sanitation works are aimed at increasing access to improved sanitation through the provision of physical sanitation facilities and implementing hygiene promotions activities. This will be achieved by implementing the following activities: a. Construction of a Sanitary Landfill to allow wastes collected in the Town and surrounding areas to decompose into biologically and chemically inert materials in a setting isolated from the environment. The sanitary landfill has been designed for the year 2040 population with a capacity of 52,798 m3 .b. Construction of liquid waste management and sewer sewerage system will be constructed to collect wastewater from some of the major institutions at the Town. The faecal sludge and wastewater collected will be treated at a wastewater treatment facility with a capacity of 148 m3 /day. c. Construction of VIP sanitation facilities in schools within project areas that will also cater for menstrual hygiene facilities for adolescent girls. d. Construction of a commuter toilet drop facility at Mzokoto to minimise open defecation by road users. e. Implementation of sanitation and hygiene promotion activities.
