2. The project development objective is to increase access to sustainable and reliable potable
water supply and improved sanitation services in Rumphi and surrounding areas for the socioeconomic growth and development of the two areas and the country.
3. The services included under this contract are for Detailed Design, Tendering Assistance and
Construction Supervision for Rumphi Town Water Supply Works. The services will involve
detailed design of water supply infrastructure, updating resettlement action plan, tendering
assistance and construction supervision.
The development of water supply infrastructure is aimed at is to improve access to potable
water supply by rehabilitating, expanding and upgrading the existing Rumphi Water Supply
Scheme. This will be achieved by implementing the following activities:
a. Constructing an intake weir for Rumphi water supply system,
b. Upgrading the water treatment plant,
c. Upgrading the water supply transmission systems covering pumps and pipelines and

associated auxiliary buildings,
