Over 5;500 Schools are Currently being Used as Emergency Shelters; With Numerous Shelter Schools Experiencing Major Damages to Equipment and Supplies. Overall; 84 Districts across Pakistan have been Declared as ‘Calamity Hit’; And about a Third of the Country is Currently Flooded. Pakistan is Ranked Seventh on the Global Climate Risk Index; And Extreme Weather Events are Expected to Grow in Severity; With High Human and Economic costs.thus; It is Important to (I) Support the Government in Pakistan Urgently to Address Climate Risks and Improve the Education Sector’S Resilience to Climate Change and Ensure the Continuity of Education Services in Particular through Investments in Climate-Resilient and School Infrastructure; And (Ii) to Adopt Green and Climate-Responsive Building Principles.
