The World Bank (WB) is seeking to hire an experienced survey firm (hereafter “the Firm”) to administer a household survey in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam; “2024 Life in the Mekong Survey in Vietnam” (hereafter “the Survey”). A vendor will be hired to implement all aspects of survey preparation; sample selection; pilot; and data collection of the Survey. The vendor will work under the direct supervision of the WB project team. This project is financed with support from Australia and the World Bank.The purpose of the project is to collect a large-scale household survey to gather new information on changes and challenges to the Mekong Delta region in Vietnam. The survey will interview at least 5;000 households in the Mekong Delta region; across all 12 provinces and Can Tho city. Interviews will be approximately 1 hour in duration. In addition; phone interviews will be conducted to migrant household members residing outside the Mekong Delta region; as feasible. The firm is expected to complete all aspects of data collection; following regulations of Vietnam; and to provide the World Bank with a final anonymized data set; questionnaires; and survey documentation reports in both English and Vietnamese. This quantitative survey supports other information that has been gathered by the World Bank and research institutions through qualitative interviews; planning and sectoral studies. In addition to core information that is routinely collected in a household survey (i.e. household demographics; education; income; expenditure; labor). The Survey will include customized modules to inform questions about knowledge and adaptation to climate change; socio-economic challenges; the future of jobs; youth aspirations; and labor market opportunities in the Mekong Delta.
