This tender is from the country of Vietnam in Asian region. The tender was published by INTERNATIONAL FINANCE CORPORATION on 05 Sep 2023 for Tenders are invited for Preliminary Assessment and Mapping Potential CO2 Storage Sites in Vietnam. Vietnam is not a major contributor of greenhouse gas (GHG) globally; but the country has emerged as one of the fastest-growing per capita GHG emitters in the world; with carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions nearly quadrupled during 2000-2015. Industrial production is among major GHG emitters; accounted for 15% of the total emission. The carbon intensity of Vietnam’s manufacturing exports is more than twice China’s. Emissions from cement; iron and steel; and chemical production are among the most challenging to abate where CCUS would play a critical role to greener the manufacturing sectors. At COP26 in Glasgow in November 2021; Vietnam’s Prime Minister made commitment of net-zero GHG emissions by 2050. According to the National Strategy on Climate Change; Vietnam’s manufacturing sector must reduce GHG by 84.9% in 2050 through adopting innovative decarbonization measures including Carbon Capture; Utilization and Storage (CCUS) for hard-to-abate sectors (steel; cement; and chemical/fertilizer).Since 2003; a number of studies on CCS were done in Vietnam which identified Song Hong; Cuu Long; Nam Con Son and Malay-Tho Chu reservoirs as potential offshore sites for carbon storge. Furthermore; Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI) suggests that inland aquafers for carbon storage are also available. The assignment of “Preliminary Assessment and Mapping Potential CO2 Storage Sites for Decarbonization of Vietnam Hard-to-Abate Sector” aims to stimulate CCS applications among manufacturing companies in Vietnam. The assignment is under Mekong Climate Smart Manufacturing project (Mekong CSM or the “project”); which promotes greener production in hard-to-abate sectors in Vietnam. ESMAP Industrial Decarbonization fund will be used for the assignment. Issue Date and Time: Aug 31,2023 20:38 Closing Date and Time: Sep 14,2023 23:59.. The last date to submit your bid for this tender was 14 Sep 2023. This tender is for the companies specializing in IT services and similar sectors.
