Bronchoscopy columns - prophylaxis

Tender Summary

The Zealand Region in Denmark from Europe region has released this tender for The executive order for the purpose of voluntary prior transparency concerns the need of Region Zealand and the Capital Region for equipment for early detection of lung cancer and to be able to reach as far into the lungs as possible. To meet the above needs, the clinical departments can use two different methods for effective diagnosis. One method is with Radial EBUS, where a miniprobe is inserted through a pediatric bronchoscope, which rotates 360 degrees via a control unit and creates an ultrasound image that the doctors use to navigate. This is not a live video image, and it is therefore considered to be a more complicated examination than regular EBUS. The second method used is with a peripheral EBUS scope, which technically functions as a regular EBUS scope, however, this peripheral EBUS scope is constructed with an even narrower distal end and can therefore reach significantly further peripherally into the lungs. With the peripheral EBUS scope, you can reach the infiltrates that are located in the middle 1/3 of the bronchial tree, where regular EBUS cannot reach, and where peripheral bronchoscopy cannot be accessed due to lack of bronchial sign and in the area where TTNB (biopsy) is most often risky for the patient due to. larger blood vessels and risk of bleeding. Olympus Danmark A/S is the only supplier that offers a peripheral EBUS scope with this narrow distal end, and which also offers a radial miniprobe. The regions assess that both methods are clinically necessary for the best possible diagnosis. Region Zealand and the Capital Region need to be able to purchase equipment for the two methods outlined above and to be able to purchase other relevant equipment needed to perform bronchoscopic diagnoses (diagnostic bronchoscope processor, therapeutic bronchoscope, thin bronchoscope, ultrasound bronchoscope (EBUS), radial EBUS/mini-probe, peripheral EBUS scope, video processor/light source, ultrasound processor, monitor). Since equipment from different suppliers cannot be combined, Region Zealand and the Capital Region intend to enter into a framework agreement with Olympus Danmark A/S for the above equipment. On 1 January 2027, Region Zealand and the Capital Region will merge into Region Eastern Denmark, cf. Act No. 699 of 20 June 2025 on the transition to a new healthcare structure with subsequent amendments. As of 1 January 2027, the Customer is Region Eastern Denmark, CVR no. 45778290, which from this time takes over the assets, liabilities, rights and obligations of Region Zealand and the Capital Region and assumes all rights and obligations under this Framework Agreement. The Supplier is obliged from 1 January 2027 to invoice Region Eastern Denmark in accordance with the Customer's written instructions at the end of 2026. The merger is carried out in relation to this Framework Agreement at no cost to the Customer. with tender notice no. 670595-2026 published on 30 Sep 2026. The tender is due to expire on 29 Dec 2026.
