Construction of a new district heating loop in Horgen, from the waste incineration plant to the Einsiedlerstrasse connection

The Horgen Works - District Heating Supply in Switzerland from Europe region has released this tender for The Horgen district heating network is undergoing renovation. After 40 years of operation, the network has reached the end of its service life. Currently, the network has a structure that has evolved over the decades. The existing structure of the district heating network makes any work impossible without interrupting the main pipeline. Before the urgently needed renovation work can begin, the network must be reconfigured into a loop. To this end, a loop pipeline must be installed between the thermal power plant at the waste incineration facility and the Einsiedlerstrasse/Gehrenstrasse intersection (connection point). During the design phase, it became apparent that the civil engineering work on the approximately 710-tonne pipeline section would serve various purposes. To ensure safe execution and an orderly progress of the work, Fernwärme Horgen has decided to submit the project for approval by the municipality and the canton through a building permit application under the standard procedure. This concerns the underground section of the loop, from the waste incineration plant to the connection point. The section running from the waste incineration plant to the thermal power plant will be subject to a separate tender. The project includes both the tender documents for the civil engineering work and for the installation of the district heating pipes.
