The Gemeindeverwaltung Horw in Switzerland from Europe region has released this tender for The planned reconstruction of the primary school building Allmend aims to create a future-proof, sustainable, and pedagogically functional infrastructure for primary level 1 to 6. The four-story building will be constructed in conventional timber construction on the school site and will replace the existing outdoor sports facilities ("Red Square"). The geological and hydrogeological conditions on the site are considered demanding. In particular, two separate groundwater layers must be taken into account. The foundation requires pile foundations (concrete displacement piles), including for utilities and control chambers (timber piles). In terms of flood protection, the new building meets the HQ300 requirements. The buildings heating and ventilation system will be placed in the ground floor and top floor (no basement) to avoid damage from flood events. The structural system of the building is based on a solid timber skeleton using Fi/Ta. This is supplemented by three massive service cores made of reinforced concrete. The spiral staircases between the service cores are also constructed in reinforced concrete. The facade consists of prefabricated timber posts and exterior elements. The building is certified according to SNBS 2.1 High Construction (target: Gold certification). The energy supply is connected to the local district heating network SeeEnergy (Winter Heat, Summer Cooling Water). All areas are equipped with floor heating. All floor coverings are made of polished industrial concrete and serve as thermal storage and provide light cooling during hot periods. The system is regulated by room temperature sensors and is user-dependent. For electricity generation, an integrated photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof as a water-carrying building envelope. Metal Brise-Soleil constructions along the east and west facades act as shading devices and provide the structural weather protection for the facade. In the building technology area, mechanical ventilation is only installed in the inner cores and the classroom hall. Classrooms receive fresh air through manual natural window ventilation. The building is fully accessible without obstacles. For the planned school building with a total height of approximately .19 m in hybrid construction, it is classified as a medium-height building. The fire protection planning follows quality level QSS 2 of the BS guidelines of VKF. The landscape design follows the concept "Center 1. + 2. Stage" and contributes to the development of a unified public space in the center of Horw. The school building break area is designed as a traffic-free, publicly accessible space, taking into account the use by the community outside of school hours. The school garden is exclusively for school use and is designed to be child-friendly and nature-oriented.
