The Swissgrid AG - Engineering Construction in Switzerland from Europe region has released this tender for The Riet substation was commissioned in the early 1970s The open-air switchgear is in need of renovation Very few spare parts remain available for the hydraulically operated disconnectors and switches The secondary equipment and ancillary facilities of the Riet substation have since been renewed but they have now reached the end of their technical service life and must be replaced Furthermore there is a high degree of interdependence with the facilities of the former operator Axpo Axpo has terminated its connection to the 220 50 kV Transformer 21 network effective May 31 2022 and will dismantle the 50 kV open-air switchgear to the extent possible and necessary Despite this termination the Riet substation remains a connection point to Axpo s distribution network in the Winterthur region It also connects the Swissgrid network node in Breite to the Schlattingen substation To ensure the installation s operational safety various pieces of equipment must be replaced The ancillary facilities must also be equipped with a backup diesel generator providing 72 hours of autonomy This backup diesel generator is operated by Axpo Swissgrid is therefore replacing the primary and secondary equipment and constructing its own substation building UWG to achieve maximum separation from Axpo s facilities The following conditions must be strictly observed during the work Work must be carried out inside an operational substation up to 220 kV and work must be carried out in the vicinity of railway lines This tender concerns the work related to the dismantling and reconstruction of the open-air switchgear and its cable ducts and shafts The existing substation building is not included in this tender In general the following work must be carried out Preparatory work site setup temporary installations dismantling demolition waste disposal etc Site preparation earthworks etc Structural and finishing work masonry work foundations drainage railway extension and adaptation curbs surfacing etc Electrical installations site lighting grounding etc Cable connections duct boxes and manholes etc Acceptance FAT SAT and IBN Detailed service requirements are presented in document C100 with tender notice no. 668054-2026 published on 07 Oct 2026.
